Wall of Performers
The Lakeview Band Department, with the help of Eagle Scout Gerrit Wilterink, has a new display in the Lakeview High School called the “Wall of Performers.” This display will show case performers who have excelled in the Lakeview Band Department. Please check the criteria below to see if you or someone you know has qualified for the “Wall of Performers.” Please have that person send a photograph, preferably a high school picture with a band uniform on, with the years they attended high school at Lakeview. Please include a list of high school band achievements including years.
The following criteria was put in place by Pamela Behrenwald, Lakeview Elementary Music Teacher; Natalie Young, retired Lakeview Music Teacher; and Dean Gilbert, Lakeview Band Director.
An Individual must meet both of the following:
1. Must have been in high school band for the equivalent of twelve trimesters (four years).
2. Must meet one of the following:
a. Must qualify for MSBOA State Solo and Ensemble no less than three times and receive two first division ratings at MSBOA State Solo and Ensemble or
b. Been nominated for the Michigan Youth Arts Festival as a soloist or
c. A member of the Michigan High School All State Band.
An Ensemble must meet one of the following:
1. Must qualify for MSBOA State Solo and Ensemble for no less than two years and receive one first division rating at MSBOA State Solo and Ensemble or
2. Been nominated for the Michigan Youth Arts Festival as an ensemble.
A Band must meet one of the following:
1. Receive a first division rating in both Marching Festival and District Band Festival during the same school year or
2. Perform at the Michigan Music Conference.
